Local SEO is what puts a company in Google Maps and in the local results block when a customer looks for a service in their town or “near me”. Inside Web improves your Google Business Profile, your reviews, your local pages and the consistency of your information online, in Brussels, in Walloon Brabant and everywhere in Belgium.

Why local matters more than ever.

For a search such as “web agency Wavre”, “plumber Uccle” or “restaurant Nivelles”, Google shows a map and a handful of businesses first, ahead of the ordinary results. Those few places take the lion's share of the calls, directions and visits. And AI assistants increasingly draw on that same information when recommending a provider.

The local customer does not compare ten websites. They ring one of the first three.

What determines local ranking.

Google states that it relies mainly on three criteria for local results. We work on all three.

  • Relevance

Do your profile and your site match precisely what the person is looking for? Categories, services, descriptions and content.

  • Distance

How close your premises are to the person searching, or to the location stated in their search.

  • Prominence

Reviews, mentions on other sites, links, presence in directories: your company's reputation online and offline.

What we do.

  • Google Business Profile

Primary and secondary categories, services, areas served, opening hours, photos, attributes and regular posts.

  • A review strategy

A simple process for gathering regular reviews from genuine customers, and professional replies to every one, positive or negative.

  • Consistent information

The same name, address, telephone number and opening hours everywhere: your site, Google, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect and directories.

  • Local pages worth having

Pages by area or by service carrying genuine local content, never copies with only the town name changed.

  • Structured data

LocalBusiness markup: address, contact details, opening hours, areas served and reviews described for search engines.

  • Visibility in AI

Clear, consistent local information, which AI assistants pick up when asked for a provider nearby.

The Belgian particularity: languages.

In Brussels and along the language border, part of your customer base searches in French or in Dutch. A profile and a site in English alone will miss those searches entirely. We build proper language versions, with the right hreflang tags and content genuinely written for each language rather than run through a machine.

Your questions.

(Local SEO in Belgium)

What is local SEO?

Local SEO covers the work that puts a company in Google Maps and in the local results block when a customer looks for a product or service in a particular area. It rests on the Google Business Profile, reviews, consistent information and the local content of the site.

How do I appear in Google Maps?

You need a verified, complete and accurate Google Business Profile: the right categories, services, opening hours, area served, photos and regular reviews. A site consistent with the profile and identical information on other platforms then strengthen the ranking.

How does Google rank local results?

Google states that it relies mainly on three criteria: the relevance of the business to the search, the distance from the person searching, and the prominence of the company, which takes reviews and mentions online into account.

Do Google reviews affect local rankings?

Yes. The number, the regularity and the quality of reviews, together with the replies given, contribute to a business's prominence and reassure customers. Google does, however, forbid buying reviews or rewarding customers in exchange for one.

Should we reply to negative reviews?

Yes, always, calmly and professionally. A factual reply offering a solution shows future customers that the company listens. A negative review handled well often inspires more confidence than a perfect score with no replies.

Can we appear in several towns without an office there?

A service business can define an area served in its Google Business Profile and create genuinely useful pages on its site for the areas it covers. Creating false addresses is forbidden and risks having the profile suspended.

What is NAP consistency?

NAP stands for Name, Address, Phone. That information has to be strictly identical on your site, your Google profile, Bing Places, Apple Business Connect and directories, so that search engines can identify one and the same business beyond doubt.

Do we need a French or Dutch site for local SEO in Brussels?

It is strongly advisable if part of your customer base is French or Dutch speaking. Searches in those languages use different words and sometimes different municipality names. A version written for that audience, with correct hreflang tags, lets you appear on those searches.

How long does it take to improve local visibility?

Corrections to the profile and to your information can take effect within weeks. Prominence, built through reviews and mentions, grows over several months. Results also depend on the competition in your sector and your area.

Are online directories still useful?

Recognised and specialist directories remain useful, above all for consistent information and for prominence. What counts is quality and accuracy, not mass listings in low-value directories.

Does local SEO help us get recommended by AI assistants?

Yes. When somebody asks an AI assistant for a provider nearby, it draws on local information available online: business profiles, reviews, websites and directories. Complete and consistent information improves your chances of being mentioned.

Can we manage our own Google Business Profile?

Yes, and it is even desirable for posts and replies to reviews. Inside Web sets up an optimised profile, defines a simple process and trains your team, then handles the follow-up if you would like.
